Approach
Eating disorders usually affect several aspects of our life and the lives of those around us. These disorders can sometimes affect psychological and physical health, the ability to maintain and develop harmonious relationships with family and friends, and can cause difficulties in school, work and general social situations. Therefore, treatment should be initiated on several fronts simultaneously. Specialized professionals use this approach, in which a clear understanding of the disorder becomes a key element in the treatment of eating disorders and obesity.
First visit at the Clinique psychoalimentaire: The Evaluation
The first visit at the clinic consists of a biopsychosocial evaluation of approximately two hours, including a few psychometric tests. The goal of the evaluation is to properly analyze the problem as well as the reasons and the events that may have contributed to the cause. We also pay particular attention to your needs to offer you the most adequate treatment possible. Your first visit will take place in a warm and relaxing environment as well as all other visits at the Clinique psychoalimentaire.
The Clinique psychoalimentaire takes confidentiality very seriously. In fact, all our caregivers rigorously respect the code of ethics concerning confidentiality.
Parents often notice that once a family member develops an eating disorder, the whole family suffers. They do not recognize their child anymore. It has become so difficult to talk to him or her; they do not know how to help. For this reason we offer support meetings to inform and guide parents through a healing process that can sometimes be long and demanding. Parents take on an important responsibility throughout treatment and are key players in the therapeutic process, especially if the person receiving treatment is still living in the family household. Depending on the situation, support from friends and relatives may also be considered.
After the initial evaluation, subsequent meetings will take place according to a personalized treatment plan, which will be reassessed regularly.
